Dear Reader,

October is here, and with it comes the official embrace of autumn. This time of year always feels like a fresh start—a chance to reset wardrobes, routines, and mindsets. There’s something about the shift in seasons that calls for a bit of reinvention. Word from our managing editor is that life feels so much lighter when you declutter, and while it's easier said than done, even starting with your makeup bag or wardrobe can make all the difference. And if you shop from the right sustainable brands, you’ll find you don’t need to buy as much as you used to.

Autumn, for me, is also about those quiet moments. I’ve been catching up on some seriously binge-worthy shows—right now, I’m hooked on Nobody Wants This, starring Adam Brody and Kristen Bell, two actors with enough charisma to carry a series on their own. It's the kind of show that makes you lose track of time. And as much as I love a good TV escape, I’ve also promised myself to get back on track with my Goodreads challenge. Last year, I smashed my reading goal, but this year? Let’s just say I’m far behind. With the finish line in sight, I’m starting my reading sprint with the highly recommended Throne of Glass series. Wish me luck!

A trip to Paris is also on the books. I’m staying at Château Voltaire, just a stone’s throw from Galeries Lafayette so naturally, I’m planning on squeezing in lots of shopping—who could resist? While there are endless chic dining spots in the city, I’m most excited about dining at César. If you ever go, you must order the prawn risotto.

As much as we love the slow pace of autumn, here at Brand Insider, we’re also celebrating Black History Month. Every day this October, we’re spotlighting black-owned brands, creatives, and founders whose stories continue to inspire and shape the industries we love.

From gorgeous skincare lines to powerful fashion houses, black creators are leading the way in so many fields, and their stories remind us that inclusivity must remain a priority—not just during BHM, but always.

Personally, I’ve found myself drawn to stories of reinvention lately. Pamela Anderson’s latest skincare launch, Sonsie Skin, is such a beautiful reflection of her new chapter. There’s something so freeing about stepping into a new era of self-care, and the way she’s channelled that into a brand is nothing short of inspiring. I’m also updating my wardrobe with some new pieces from our activewear edit. Reinvention really does feel like a running theme this autumn (how many times have I used that word in this letter?)

And while I’m balancing a packed schedule this month, I’m also excited to slow down and appreciate these moments of change. The beauty world has certainly caught on to this spirit of renewal, with autumn hues and scents taking centre stage. I’ve recently been drawn to Cult Gaia’s new fragrances, which feel like the perfect sensory escape as the weather cools.

October always feels like a month of balance—between work and rest, planning ahead and taking a moment to reflect. As we settle into this beautiful season, let’s embrace the changes it brings, celebrate the stories that inspire us, and look forward to the new possibilities on the horizon.

Enjoy the month ahead,
